21 JUNE 99 - PRAISE & PRAY from the HILLS of JAPAN
We are in one of those periods when we are preparing for events
coming up. For example, preaching this next Sunday and ...
"Friends Together 99" is coming up and in just a short month we will
join together with 4 young adults from Washington Heights Baptist.
Church and their leader, Robert Nakaoka. Pray as we endeavor to
know and experience what "Two Cultures, One Kingdom" means for
the subjects of Christ's Kingdom.
Also, Jeffrey's semi-annual evaluation will occur in July. Jeffrey is
working hard to finish this 6 month period well and all of us with him.
Please pray that we and the specialists, that will evaluate Jeffrey, will
understand just exactly what is needed for the next phase of his
growth and healing. We anticipate and hope for Jeffrey to near
"whole-ness" by January 2001.
And then, related to that last comment, this past 5 - 6 months, we
have prayed, thought and consulted regarding the timing of our next
Home Assignment. For reasons related mostly to Jeffrey's
rehabilitation needs, we plan to take our next Home Assignment
starting during January 2001. We will get the details out to our
financial supporters, as to how we came to this decision soon. (Any
others interested, drop us a line...)
As you can imagine, this decision has its "hard" side too. Perhaps it is
hardest on Grandparents & other family members. Please pray with us
that God will make every provision; emotional, social, physical, spiritual,
etc. It will be hard to put off seeing you all for another year, yet we
are confident that God has lead in this as best for family and ministry
at this time. (One of the bottom line "hopes" is that if Jeffery's
growth & healing rate continues to increase at the current rate, we
could do much of our next Home Assignment travel as a family.
Something we could not consider if we were to return on schedule.)
