16 JUNE 99 - PRAISE & PRAY from the HILLS of JAPAN
Yesterday I went to Narita Airport. I had the joy of taking Mr. & Mrs.
Koizumi to meet their returning 15 year old daughter, Eriko (not to be
confused with Erika, whom we featured last week). She has just
finished a two month home stay with our dear friends, Jim & Kerry
Benson in Portland, OR. During that time she also attended Portland
Christian High School studying in the International Students Personal
Enrichment program (non-credit).
We praise God for the excellent time that she had there. Loads of
challenges and hard times. But she and her parents are praising God
for His guidance and provision at every turn. I told Eriko that she had
probably grown or matured 6 months worth in these two months. Her
English has definitely improved.
Pray for Eriko and her family as they consider her future choices. She
is considering attending high school in the USA and these previous two
months were a trial period. She is talented vocally (our Lord even
provided for her a voice teacher during these two months) and would
like to pursue that avenue.
Returning from Ogden, UT via Portland on the very same flight were
the newlyweds, Mr. & Mrs. Hironao & Darla Tanaka. Darla is the
daughter of Rev. & Mrs. Hank Green of Washington Heights Baptist
Church. We have had many opportunities to partner together with
Pastor Hank and WHBC. We look forward to continued ministry
together also with these servants of our Lord, Hironao and Darla. May
their marriage be richly blessed. (It's so fun to see the sparkle of
newlyweds truly in love. May their sparkle shine bright and endure long
with God's wonderful shower of blessings.)
