25 MARCH 99 - PRAISE & PRAY from the HILLS of JAPAN

SPECIAL NOTE FOR THOSE IN JAPAN!
Our Abigail's photo is in a current edition of a popular health & fitness
magazine! Well, she is not the feature, but we are excited anyway.
The magazine is called (of all things) TARZAN and can be found in local
bookstores in the health or sports magazine section. It is the 4/14
issue and it hit the bookstores yesterday. Pages 69 - 72 has an article
about the Institutes and Dr. Doman. I've not read it yet so cannot yet
vouch for it's accuracy.

Well, anyway, life has it's fun moments. I was a little disappointed
though with the young man behind the counter at the bookstore. He
was barely bored when I excitedly explained to him that my daughter's
photo was in this magazine and that was the reason I was buying 5
issues. What's a father to do?

By the way, the other two girls in the photo are the daughters of IAHP
staff and fellow Christians, Matthew and Carol Newell. (Matt & Carol,
One of those 5 copies is for you. We will send it right away.)

TOMONARI FAMILY UPDATE
Please continue to keep the Tomonari Family before the Lord in prayer!
Reiko continues to grow spiritually and her emotional health continues
to strengthen too. But it all comes by inches. This week for the first
time in a month she had her Bible study time with Mrs. Okita (the
pastor's wife.) Recently she has always not "felt" quite good enough
and canceled. Pray that Reiko will not seek just the fellowship, but
also be faithful in developing her relationship with God through prayer
and devotional time in the Bible.

Akiko her sister has indicated a heart belief. Pray that she will confirm
her faith publicly. We are extremely encouraged that she has
continued faithfully to worship service with Reiko. Pray specifically
that she will fellowship more with the Christians her age and find her
joy in the unfathomable resources of Jesus our Lord. We are praying
that we will see the both of them baptized soon. In fact, we are
praying for the miracle, i.e. we have laid before the Lord our desire to
see Reiko, Akiko and their father confess their faith in Jesus Christ
together at a joint Baptismal service. Please pray together with us.
By the way, dinner last week did not work out.

PRAY also for us as odds and ends are abundant these days... PRAY
for sermon preparation. I have finished the Jonah series and will be
developing a new series. PRAY for text selection and Holy Spirit lead
insight to the heart conditions needing care.

Regarding my "special edition" we have had no further visits from him.
Pray also, for the miracle of love and healing in this young man's life.

THURSDAY - 25th:
Office work. High School English in the evening.

FRIDAY - 26th:
I will go together with both Pastor and Mrs. Okita to Yonezawa (west-
northwest Japan) this time. We have several things to discuss in the
car on our way and back. Pray that this time would be blessed of
God's wisdom and enlightenment as we will be strategizing and planning
for 2 upcoming events. A men's fellowship kick off and the group
coming this summer from Washington Heights Baptist church.

Brett will be going to west Tokyo to visit the Klienjans.

SATURDAY - 27th:
Return from Yonezawa. Awana's leaders meeting. Pray for this
meeting. Several changes in leadership occurring. We have had an
increase in attendance by neighborhood kids and are glad for that.

SUNDAY - 28th:
I preach at Shonan Chapel (Yokohama area). With the new pastor
coming to Sekiyado I've had a change in assignment. It currently
appears that I will be preaching the 4th and 5th Sundays. Pastor Okita
and I will tag team on those Sundays preaching locally or at Shonan
Chapel. Shonan is about 3 hours away though so my days will be much
longer when I go there. I anticipate leaving about 7AM and returning
after 9PM. At least it is by train.

MONDAY - 29th:
Office & household chores... trying to set up for the week. Try to get
together with Mrs. Kodama for dinner.

TUESDAY - 30th:
Start of an early morning prayer time with Brett for the remainder of
his days here.

Brett & I volunteer at Ikedas in the afternoon. Evening Children's
English and night time Adult English.

WEDNESDAY - 31st:
Prayer and preparation day. One on one with Brett. Date with Cheryl.

Other Items:

Brett is moving into his final weeks here. Pray that he will finish well.

his potential future ministry in Japan.
