17 MAY 99 - PRAISE & PRAY from the HILLS of JAPAN
THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS!
Cheryl is back on her feet and my head is healing.
Cheryl's was a stomach flu or a bug or something... never was quite
sure. It took several days of recuperation and was a good time for the
rest of us to re-learn (again) the stupendous ministry of love our
mother and wife performs for us as we tried to fill her shoes for a few
days.
My head is hanging low... as I humbly explain to you that this injury was
"self-inflicted". That is to say I was the one who did not stand directly
behind the van's back door, but attempted to close it as I stood at the
side. I did not account for the fact that the door's shape was made to
conform to the shapes and curves of the lights and I failed to notice
that there was a corner coming out half way up the door. To wit, my
head now conforms to the shape of that bend in the door.
We were about to return from the Family Camp. Our packing was done.
I was closing the back door and we were to be on our way. But after a
30 minute trip to the hospital, 5 stitches and back to the camp, we
were on the road "again", as it were, for the 8 hour trip home. Little
blood, a bit of pain, and an extreme inconvenience. Last week
Thursday the stitches came out and I'm on the mend. Thank you for
your prayers. We give special thanks to our good friends, Rev. Masaki
& Mrs. Hiromi Sasaki for taking such good care of us in the midst of
this minor crisis.
