15 February 99 - PRAISE & PRAY from the HILLS of JAPAN

THIS WEEK: The Reiko Tomonari Discipleship Team

Some of you will remember the LARGE photos we took around with us
on Home Assignment from September 1994 - October 1995. In that
display there was the Tomonari Family. In fact, I'm sure that some of
you have continued to pray for them. As reported here, this past
December Reiko Tomonari, the younger sister, accepted Jesus as her
Saviour. Reiko has continued faithful in attendance and is studying the
Bible in preparation for baptism with Ikuko Okita (Pastor Okita's wife.)
For this we praise God.

Reiko carries some deep pyschological and social needs. Just this past
Saturday, at Reiko's initiative, the Doctor has reduced her medication
"load". The immediate result was that she did not sleep late as usual
and she was at our door at 5 AM on Sunday morning. She wanted
Cheryl to know the good news regarding her medicine.

A team has developed around Reiko using an "holistic" approach. As
mentioned, her Bible training is coming from Mrs. Ikuko Okita. Cheryl
and Mrs. Ichikawa (yes the one mentioned here regarding home
schooling) are working together to give her specific psychological
support and social training (eg. doing housework, etc.). Mrs. Takebe
(also from the church) is our friend on the scene who has the time to
do things with her getting her out of the house from time to time. Mrs.
Takahashi is close by as needed and the prayer warrior backing us all
up. The young people her age at church are drawing her in too.

We would like to recruit you all for some intensive prayer coverage.
Especially the next month or two we anticipate to be a crucial time for
her and all of us too. Pray also for her father and sister as they watch
all of this process. May they be drawn by God's love in action into
Christ's kingdom.

MONDAY - 15th:
Office & household chores... I'm getting much closer to moving my
office out of the house. Also the colds linger on.

Dinner with Mrs. Kodama in our home is planned, but have not been
able to confirm.

TUESDAY - 16th:
Plenty of office work to keep me busy this time of the year.

Afternoon, I will go to Ikeda's to help with Takashi's rehabilitation
program. Evening, young Children's English class & Adult's class.

WEDNESDAY - 17th:
Pray and preparation day. One on one with Brett. Date with Cheryl

THURSDAY - 18th:
The remodeling is done. We are now slowing moving my office over
there without disrupting our ability to use it for English classes. We
hope to be done this month. (Famous last words?)

Evening Jr. - Sr. High English

FRIDAY - 19th:
Prayer & Planning meeting with Pastor Okita.

SATURDAY - 20th:
Family time, housework. Awana's (I've got the message time.)

SUNDAY - 21st:
Preach at Sekiyado in the morning. Afternoon "counseling" with a
family. Elder's Meeting at Midorino Chapel.

Darla Green & Hironao Tanaka plan to come over to see Brett, (and us
too?)

Other Items:
PRAISE: We had a good meeting with Ikedas and their niece Erika
Moriguchi last Thursday. Erika is trying to get the paper work together
for application to Weber St. University in Ogden. If she can get it sent
by the 25th of this month she may make the Summer Quarter. If not
then Fall. Please continue to pray for her salvation.

PRAISE: We sent off Sanae Hoya to Washington Heights Bapt. Church in
Ogden for ESL study and a home stay with the Weber Family. The
church here prayed over her yesterday morning and then I took her to
the airport, where we met Nobue Konno (who was in Japan for her
sister's wedding). They traveled back together. Pray for her spiritual
growth and discipline during this time. She returns to Japan on April
1st.

PRAISE: for Brett Turner's (our current short term missionary) ministry for us
here. He is making a good adjustment, he too is getting better from a
cold. Pray for good health. Also, for a specific person that he can
befriend here and upon whom he can have an influence for Christ's
Kingdom. He has had a significant impact on our household, for the
good, let there be no doubt.

* ERIKA MORIGUCHI, preparing for Weber St. University *

* AKI TAIDO, PRAY for God's guidance to just the right host family for
Aki. She arrives in LaGrande, OR on March 16th to begin her studies
at Eastern Oregon University there. Please pray for the LaGrande
Church which is endeavoring to help minister to Aki. *

* ICHIKAWA FAMILY *

* NOBUE KONNO ministering in Ogden *

* NOZAKI FAMILY *

* RYUNOSUKE NOZAKI in Ogden *

* KENICHIRO WATANABE'S Salvation *
Kenichiro's "senior year schedule" has caused him to stop our
meetings together. Pray for other opportunities.

* CHERYL (the Mama) HILL *
Unless otherwise indicated, Cheryl is always the one running Jeffrey's
program and there is ALWAYS A SPECIAL PRAYER NEED for her.

Thank you for your ever faithful prayers. We praise God for you!

Your Compatriots in Christ's Kingdom,

The Hills: Abigail, Jeffrey, Cheryl & Leon
