21 December 98 - PRAISE & PRAY for the HILLS of JAPAN

THIS WEEK: Christmas Season & Its Joy

Last night was the All Church Christmas Celebration at Midorino
Chapel. Our great joy was to have Miss Reiko Tomonari come together
with us. Perhaps some of you remember the Tomonari's. We spoke of
this family on Home Assignment. Reiko's mother died about 5 - 6
years ago when she was still in grade school. She has an older sister,
Akiko. There has been some real emotional struggles for Reiko over
the years. Recently she has shown interest in keeping her relationship
with us going. Upon our return from the church she indicated that she
had really enjoyed her time and looked forward to going to church
again. Also, she wants to start helping with Jeffrey's program after the
winter vacation time. Pray for Reiko and her sister and father. She
has opted out of high school and works part time, sometimes.

It truly was a joy last night to fellowship together at Midorino Chapel
and see so many there. In addition to Reiko, Takashi Ikeda & his
mother, the Ichikawas, and Hiroshi Yoshinaga came. These all came,
though invited by us, of their own means and unction. In addition,
Kumiko & Sanae who were fringe when they came on the tour in
August have steadily grown in faithfulness. Sanae told me of her
speaking to Mizuho Murata to encourage her to come to our pizza
party in January. Of course, we are not the only ones having influence
in these people's lives, but it is an encouragement to us to see that
God is using our involvement in His over all plan for these people.

Another who came on our tour is Nobue Konno. As most of you know,
she is now studying at Weber State Univ. in Ogden and assisting with
the outreach ministry to Japanese students that Washington Heights
Baptist. Church. has on that campus. She is in Japan for the holidays and I
was able to have joyful fellowship with her at Sekiyado Chapel, her
home church, where I preached yesterday.

The week in short:
MONDAY - 21st:
Office & household chores... Much to do in both of these areas.
Cheryl & Abigail will go out for lunch and shopping together, & I'll run
the program with Jeffrey.

Tonight we will go to the Nozaki's for dinner. Please pray for this
family that has heard the gospel so many times.

TUESDAY - 22nd:
English with the Free Conversation class in the morning.

Afternoon, I will go to Ikeda's to help with Takashi's rehabilitation
program. Evening, young children's English class.

WEDNESDAY - 23rd:
Wedding at Midorino Chapel in the morning and I will assist with
"behind the scenes" details.

Afternoon in office.

THURSDAY - 24th:
Office & household stuff during the day...

Evening will be the Christmas Eve Candle Service with caroling
afterwards.

FRIDAY - 25th:
Christmas day. Family times including program.

SATURDAY - 26th:
Family time, housework, Awana Leaders meeting in the afternoon. The
Kimura's will come for dinner.

SUNDAY - 27th:
Worship together. Family time. Perhaps relax?

MONDAY - 28th:
Catch up the office and start to finalize events that have been planned
for the first half of January.

Other Items:
Jeffrey and Abigail are both working hard at their respective "daily
activities". Both making good progress.

Dad & Mom (the above kids' Dad & Mom) are feeling some stresses
concerned with a lot of loose ends hanging about these days.

Dad Hill (Leon's) recently had hip replacement surgery. Recovery is on
schedule. Please pray for complete recovery.

Please, continue to remember in prayer:
* ICHIKAWA FAMILY *
Despite the laws of the land, they are seriously thinking about
attempting to home school Megumi for Jr. High. PRAY, PRAY, PRAY!!!
(A further update: The local Board of Education has visited them
indicating that they will not allow this. Yet it appears that the
Ichikawas plan to stand firm for what they believe (know) their
daughter, Megumi, needs. PLEASE PRAY that a solution will come
quickly which will give glory to God.

* NOBUE KONNO ministering in Ogden *
In Japan with her family for the holidays. Returns to the USA on
January 7th.

* NOZAKI FAMILY *

* RYUNOSUKE NOZAKI in Ogden *
Spending some holiday time with Leon's parent's in Albuquerque but
returning to Ogden by the 23rd.

* KENICHIRO WATANABE'S Salvation *
Kenichiro's "senior year schedule" has caused him to stop our
meetings together. Pray for other opportunities.

* CHERYL (the Mama) HILL *
Unless otherwise indicated, Cheryl is always the one running Jeffrey's
program and there is ALWAYS A SPECIAL PRAYER NEED for her.

Thank you for your ever faithful prayers. We praise God for you!

Your Compatriots in Christ's Kingdom,

The Hills: Abigail, Jeffrey, Cheryl & Leon
