9 November 98- PRAISE & PRAY for the HILLS of JAPAN

THIS WEEK: The Home Front.

The Field Conference went well. Sat in the hot springs a couple of
times and enjoyed the Fall colors. Had some excellent fellowship with
our fellow missionaries, with an exceptional speaker and wife, (who, did
not just speak at us, but truly ministered to us and our children.) But I
must say and do say that it was great to be back with Cheryl and
Jeffrey. Breanne went up with us and then came back after the first
day to help Cheryl. That was a special ministry for us!

Abigail & I returned on Tuesday afternoon. Then on Friday & Saturday
I traveled with Pastor Okita to a leader's meeting. Had excellent
fellowship with Pastor Okita in the car. Upon our return, Ken Taylor
(fellow missionary) and his two children arrived. We all went to
AWANAs and that evening Ken helped the music ministry team at
Midorino Chapel. He also ran a "music - worship" clinic on Sunday
afternoon. I preached in the morning and in the evening we had the Jr.
- Sr. High youth over at our house for "English Sunday Night". We had
11 including Breanne. 3 of my English students came for the first time.
5 believers & 6 "not-yet" believers.

Oh yea, I almost forgot to say, on this past Friday, before I left with
Pastor, I went to see an "eye doctor" (how do you spell that...?) I
recently have had some problems with my left eye. It is not a problem
correctable by lenses. If the medicine does not help, it may mean
surgery. No pain and I know what I am seeing well enough, just kind of
looks like I'm looking through water sometimes. Pray that this will be
resolved.

Breanne, by the way, spent Saturday evening in the home of one of our
families at Midorino Chapel. A little bit of Japan up close with the
Sakuma family.

The week in short:
MONDAY - 9th:
I am praising our Lord that Pastor Okita and his wife, Ikuko, are taking
a 3 day vacation (just the two of them) starting today. Please pray for
refreshment & relaxation for them.

Dinner out with Mrs. Kodama (the landlady of the room we rent for
English and Bible studies.

Also, my father (Howard Hill) will be having a hip replacement done. (Of
course USA time.) Having moved to Albuquerque they have access to
the University specialists and have been real pleased with the doctor
who will do this procedure. Please pray with us for his complete
healing!

TUESDAY - 10th:
Morning, "Free Conversation" class of housewives, which Breanne will
lead. Afternoon, to Ikeda's to help with Takashi's rehabilitation
program. (Takashi was in a boys Bible study I had several years ago.
Evening, young children's English class. Late evening, adult beginner's
English class.

WEDNESDAY - 11th:
Office day for me. Prayer & preparation. This is a 5 Sunday month so
I preach 4 times, this past Sunday and the next 3. Breanne has been
invited by Miss Onomura and some of the other ladies from the athletic
club to go for an outing to see the Fall colors.

THURSDAY - 12th:
Office day. Evening English with the Jr. - Sr. High girls, which Breanne
will lead.

FRIDAY - 13th:
Breanne goes down to discover Tokyo for herself. The rest of us will
stay and hold down the fort.

SATURDAY - 14th:
Awanas... Some family time and housework...

SUNDAY - 15th:
I preach at Sekiyado Chapel, about 1 hour and 15 minutes from here by
car. Abigail is in a concert in the afternoon. There will be a "Family
Concert" held at Midorino Chapel, at the very same time as Abigail's
concert! Breanne will perform in a flute duet at the Family concert.
There is an Elder's Meeting after all this in the late afternoon.
Hopefully I will be sitting among my family by the evening.

Please, continue to remember in prayer:
* BREANNE BEASLEY our current short term minister *
* ICHIKAWA FAMILY * Despite the laws of the land, they are seriously
thinking about attempting to home school Megumi for Jr. High. PRAY,
PRAY, PRAY!!!
* NOBUE KONNO ministering in Ogden *
* NOZAKI FAMILY *
* RYUNOSUKE NOZAKI in Ogden *
* KENICHIRO WATANABE'S Salvation *

Thank you for your ever faithful prayers. We praise God for you!

Your Compatriots in Christ's Kingdom,

The Hills: Abigail, Jeffrey, Cheryl & Leon
